Growth Along the Old Turnpike
Hydroseeding in White House is tied to the town's new building. More than 800 homes are planned for the area, along with at least five apartment developments, and the town is expected to keep growing as a Nashville suburb. That adds up to a lot of graded ground, new streets and fresh yards.
A small, land-locked town
White House covers about 9 square miles, all land, and sits along I-65 where State Highway 76 meets US 31W. With no lakes or big rivers inside the limits, most runoff leaves through ditches, culverts and small streams. Those channels are what we protect during construction, using silt fence, erosion control blankets and inlet protection.
Two counties
The town lies in both Robertson and Sumner counties. Robertson County was long tobacco country, with farming as the main way of life into the 20th century. A lot of the land now being built on was farm ground, so soils can be in decent shape near the surface but heavily compacted where equipment has worked.
Turnpike history
US 31W follows an old trail from Kentucky to Nashville that became the Louisville and Nashville Turnpike. The town's name comes from a white two-story inn built along it in 1829. The original was torn down in 1951 for new development; a replica built in 1986 now holds a museum and the chamber of commerce. Older lots near that corridor often need lawn renovation rather than new installation.

White House Questions
Do you seed lots for White House builders?
Yes. We seed lots as they reach final grade and install silt fence and inlet protection during the build.
My new yard is hard as a rock. Will seed grow?
Compacted soil needs to be loosened first. We can till or rip the surface and add topsoil before seeding.
How is hydroseeding different from straw and seed?
Hydroseed sprays seed, fertilizer and wood or paper mulch together in one slurry, which gives more even coverage and holds moisture against the seed better than loose straw.
Can you fix a lawn on an older lot near 31W?
Yes. Most older lawns can be brought back with aeration and overseeding, or with a full renovation if they are mostly weeds.
