Industrial Acreage and Creek Lots
Hydroseeding in Smyrna covers two quite different kinds of work. On one side there is large industrial and commercial ground, anchored by the Nissan assembly plant that covers about 5.2 million square feet. On the other there are homes along the Stones River, Stewarts Creek and the parts of Percy Priest Lake that sit inside town limits. Both need fast cover on bare soil, but the methods and scale differ.
Big pads and long slopes
Commercial and industrial sites leave wide graded areas, detention basin banks and long road shoulders. Hydroseeding handles that acreage efficiently. On basin side slopes and ditch lines we usually add bonded fiber matrix or erosion control blankets where water will concentrate, and set silt fence and inlet protection before the first rain.
Land with a past
Smyrna began as a farming community. In 1941 Sewart Air Force Base was built here, and after it closed in 1971 the property was split among the state, Rutherford County and the Nashville airport authority. Ground that served as a military base and was later redeveloped can have compacted fill and poor topsoil, so we check soil before promising a lawn.
Near the water
The town's two main waterways are the Stones River and Stewarts Creek, and portions of Percy Priest Lake fall within town limits. For a home lot that drains toward any of these, we keep a silt fence line in place until the grass has rooted and avoid leaving soil bare between grading and seeding.
Residential lawns
For houses, the usual jobs are new lawns behind new construction, bare spots after drainage or utility work, and overseeding thin turf in established neighborhoods.

Smyrna Questions
Do you hydroseed detention ponds and basin slopes on commercial sites?
Yes. Basin banks get a heavier mulch rate or bonded fiber matrix, and blankets where water flows in.
My house backs to Stewarts Creek. How do I keep my yard from washing in?
Get grass established quickly and keep a silt fence along the low edge until it roots. Any swale that carries water should get an erosion control blanket.
Can you overseed an older Smyrna lawn instead of starting over?
When half or more of the lawn is still healthy grass, core aeration followed by overseeding usually does the job.
How soon can you start after the grading contractor finishes?
As soon as possible. Bare soil left sitting is where most erosion happens, so tell us when grading will wrap up and we will plan around it.
